When Worlds Collide
"A friend loves at all times." ~Proverbs 17:17.
“Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. "Pooh!" he whispered. "Yes, Piglet?" "Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you."” ~A.A. Milne
“A friend knows the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.” ~Donna Roberts
"It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
God has blessed me with 3 of the most wonderful, amazing, bestest friends a girl could ever ask for.
When I was a senior in high school/freshman in college, I began praying for God to bring just one friend into my life with whom I could have a really neat special lifetime friendship—someone who could almost be the sister I never had—a “sisterchick” friend. :) I desired a friendship kind of like David & Jonathon…..Piglet & Pooh Bear…..Ren & Stimpy….Huck & Tom…..Lucy & Ethel….Thelma & Louise [uh…]…..you get the idea. And God, who does exceedingly more than we could ever ask or imagine, decided to give me 3. :) And my life has been so much better for them.
Friday night my “worlds collided” –I hung out with all 3 friends (plus their husbands!) for a little birthday celebration [for me!]. Shelli, Sarah, and Nichole had all met before, but this was the first time I have had the honor of spending time with all of them at the same time. I have to say, it was VERY exciting. I never thought I would have them all together until I got married or something.
These 3 women couldn’t be any more different from each other. Shelli brought that up Friday night. She asked me how it was that all three were my best friend, when they are each SO COMPLETELY different from each other. And it is so true!! They are COMPLETELY different! Their personalities are each very different from each other. I mean, they practically cover the gamut of traits...outgoing, introvert, gregarious, relaxed, dramatic, peaceful, quiet, loud, sweet, sassy, feeling, empathetic….and I could go on and on with the plethora of personality quirks that comprises these very unique and wonderful women. But, they also have their similarities…. They all have big hearts full of joy, they love the Lord and are precious godly women, they are all SO beautiful, caring, loving, generous, and…..emotional [;-) but that includes me! HA!]. They are married to wonderful, loving husbands [who have made my sisters so very happy, so I am thankful for and love those guys as well!] I have seen them go through similar seasons in life, and walked with them through many of life’s…loopty loops…. :P
I guess it is a little funny that I can be so close with 3 very different people ….. ….but I don’t think I would want it any other way. They each have a distinctive place in my life that can only be filled by their particular personality, giftings, and talents. They each bring out different facets of my personality. They each have the ability to frustrate me to no end [some recently…haha] ;) They are each beautiful, special, and amazing in their own little way. I don’t have the words to do them justice and properly describe how much they mean to me….even as different as they are. All I can really say is it is God who brought them into my life. God, in His loving kindness, knew that I needed Shelli, Sarah, AND Nichole. One wouldn’t do it! :-D I am so thankful that He has blessed me with them. I am better for having them in my life. They have encouraged and challenged me in my relationship with God, and their lives point me back to Him time and time again. They are my “peculiar treasures”. I don’t deserve their friendship and love, and I hope and pray that I am half as good a friend to them as they are to me.
I know this was kind of long, but this has been rolling around in my mind all weekend. I even sat in the restaurant on Friday looking around at them thinking, “I am totally blogging this”. Haha. I just wanted to take the time to bless and honor my sisters by telling all who might read this how much my sisters have blessed and honored me with their friendship. :)

As a clarification to other readers....no, I have not developed a split personality and am now writing myself comments.....the 'sarah' in the comment above is in fact the 'superchick' Sarah mentioned in the post. Yes, her middle name is 'Jean' as well. We are both Sarah Jeans, named for our Granny's.....just one of the strange similarities we share!! :)
Aww...thanks Sarah! You are an amazing woman yourself! We all love you too! I had a great time Friday night. Shelly and Sarah are as cool as we are! hee hee
sorry Shelli, mis-spelled your name! Shame on me!!!
