A Series of Events

There is something satisfying about coming back to work on a Friday [after being "off" the whole week] and realizing you only have one day to work and then you get 2 days off. ahhhh......its nice. :)

Well, I am back from my "Southern Baptist Convention" experience. It was fun.....but I do not think I will be frequenting any yearly BUSINESS gatherings of Baptists in the future. Once is definitely ENOUGH. Now, don't get me wrong......getting to do the worship stuff was AWESOME. Singing and worshipping God is ALWAYS a bright spot in my life, and it was incredible getting to do it with a staduim full of people.....and the 'mass choir' of 1,000 people on the last night was......AMAZING! So much fun! However, I could have done without the "business" of the event......all the motions, seconds, voting, arguing...... I could have gone a lifetime without having to sit through all that. WOW. It was interesting, I will say that.....
But, as always, a person can learn new things in any situation... :)
Here are some fun lessons learned during my time in Nashville:
  1. Text messaging is a fun way to pass the time while sitting for hours between singing times. ;)
  2. When someone makes a motion on something you think would totally be controversial, get ready to be disappointed, b/c it won't be. However, be prepared for heated discussions when a motion is made about the most inconsequential and trival items....
  3. Southern Baptists have officially ended their boycott with Disney [didn't know there was a boycott to begin with...shows you how much I know....I like Disney movies....and own them....and watch them....nice to know its..uh...'legal' now, haha] :P
  4. Always remember to whisper when trying to talk to someone while the two of you are listening to your MP3 player. Talking in a normal voice so you can hear yourself causes people 4 rows in front of you to look back at you in disbelief for daring to talk during the "meetings". Remember: the room is quiet...
  5. Also, in the same regard, try not to snort when laughing....and try to laugh quietly......the ladies on row 4 aren't down with that, either.....
  6. City blocks in a big city are LONG. When someone says, "Oh its only a few blocks", be prepared to walk a LEAST a mile or two....in the heat.....but remember, its good exercise!
  7. Waiters in Nashville who are originally from Boston [and have only been in Nashville for 3 weeks] don't know that on one's birthday it is customary to bring out a free dessert of some sort... :P
  8. Turing 26 really is no big deal. In fact, it was good. I don't feel any older....I am just me. I am happy, content, loved, and blessed! :D
  9. Seeing "celebrities" on the street really isn't that big of a deal when you have no clue who they are [my group ran into a couple of guys from Extreme Home Make-overs (not Ty...)]...
  10. It is far easier and much more fun traveling with few rather than many.... :)
So, there you have it. All in all, it was fun, and I am glad that I went, and for the incredible opportunity of getting to help lead in worship with the choir. I got to hear Rebecca St. James, Russ Lee, and Casting Crowns [and sing with CC], which was neat.

So....I'm back! :-D

HAPPY HAPPY 26!!!! WHAT A GOOD YEAR!!!!

2+6=8 which is the age I was when I accepted Christ.

6 / 2 = 3 which is how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop.

26 is the age Karen A. and I were when we got married. (not to each other ofcourse)

26 is the number of hugs you deserve for turning 26.

you are cracking me up, Sarah H. It's much funnier to hear about little events in one's life when someone else writes about them. All I could come up with was zzzzz.... This is my first ever blog (web log- as you so wisely taught me during the endless hours of voting, arguing and chanting during SBC at Nashville). So I'm sitting here waiting for another eternal hour of military seminars to go by as Clint and I run cameras for 3 hours longer than expected! I could really use you MP3 player right now :) This is way more entertaining!
